OSSESSIONE (1943)

A drifter begins an affair with the proprietress of a roadside inn and is soon drawn into a plot to bump off her husband. Transposing the noir classic THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE to fascist Italy, Visconti’s feature debut is hailed as the first neorealist masterpiece.

This screening will be presented in conjunction with the film course The Cinema of Luchino Visconti: Realism and Spectacle, taught by Maurizio Giammarco, Ph.D.
