SENSO (1954)

In 1866, a Venetian countess becomes obsessed with a rakish Austrian soldier, imperiling her fortune, family, and the fate of the city itself. With lavish style matching its feverish drama, Senso reaches heights fit for the Teatro la Fenice opera house, where the story begins.

This screening will be presented in conjunction with the film course The Cinema of Luchino Visconti: Realism and Spectacle, taught by Maurizio Giammarco, Ph.D.
