Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring Shonishin ~ a gentle, non-invasive Japanese technique traditionally used in paediatric care. This workshop is perfect for Shiatsu Practitioners looking to expand their skillset and integrate new tools into their practice.
Shonishin is a Japanese word meaning “children’s needle therapy”. It is suitable for all children from newborn to puberty as well as teenagers and adults with very sensitive nervous systems or an aversion to inserted needling. Shonishin was developed in Japan in the 17th and 18th centuries and has gained popularity over the last fifty years thanks to the gentle, non-insertive techniques and easy to apply treatments.
Shonishin treatments consist of a basic, whole body routine as well as specific tapping or rubbing techniques for particular ailments. Often these treatments are taught to the parent or caregiver to apply at home.
What You’ll Learn: This workshop will introduce the whole body treatment and fundamental principles of applying honishin in a way that you will be confident to add them to your shiatsu practice and expand the range of people you can treat.
There will be a few Shonishin tools provided for practice during the workshop. The copper Yoneyama is available to purchase for $30 - select the Yoneyama option with registration. If you already own a Shonishin tool, please bring it along.
