Group run in memory of our friend, Roseann (Perchinske) Peiffer Meet in the Cleveland Clinic lot adjacent to Brunswick Panera.
Roseann used to live in the area, and many of us knew her as a training partner and friend. She recently passed away in a tragic accident. This run is for anyone and everyone, not just those of us who knew Roseann. It doesn’t matter whether you want to run or walk one mile or much more. Here are the details.
The run is free. If you want to donate to the memorial fund for Roseann, you may do so online or bring your donation to this event. Although it's not necessary to donate, if you're looking for a suggested amount, $10 would be a nice contribution. Since there will be no costs, 100% of the contributions will be donated. If we raise $250 in donations at the run, we will use that money to purchase a park tree in Roseann’s name for a city park. Other amounts will go directly to the memorial fund.
The distance you run is up to you. It’s one mile around Brunswick Lake, so you can run or walk route that as many times as you like. For those who want to run longer, here is the description of the 6.55 mile Brunswick ¼ Marathon route. ((Run clockwise around the lake and continue past the parking lot for another 1/3-mile. Turn left onto the Plum Creek Greenway Trail. Follow the trail South, crossing Laurel and Sleepy Hollow Roads, until you reach Plum Creek Park, where there is a 1/2-mile loop. Turn Left and run the loop clockwise until you return to the Plum Creek Greenway Trail. Turn left to return to Brunswick Lake. When you reach the lake, turn right to return to the parking lot.)) If we get enough runners who want to run this course twice, we’ll track their times as half-marathon finishers.
Bring your own water and anything else you will need. You can leave it in your car while you run. There are no restrooms in Brunswick Lake Park, but there are grocery stores and restaurants nearby. There are also restrooms at Plum Creek Park.
Most importantly, although this is a sad occasion, remember to have fun.
