Zine‑Making Workshop with Shin‑Yeon Moon at SUR NYC

Join us at Sur NYC for a hands‑on evening exploring the art of zines with illustrator and educator Shin‑Yeon Moon. This workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as those with experience looking to expand their skills, no prior knowledge is needed!

Shin will guide you through her process, sharing inspirations, tools, and examples of her recent work. You’ll learn how to create playful interactive structures such as a square flexagon and a waterfall pull tab, then spend time sketching and assembling your own experimental zine on 11×17 paper. Along the way Shin will share her tips and tricks.

Capacity: Limited to 15–20 participants

What to bring: If possible, please bring scissors, an X‑Acto knife, and a cutting mat (a few will be available to share).Whether you’re completely new to zine‑making or eager to explore advanced techniques, this evening promises inspiration, experimentation, and community.

About Shin‑Yeon Moon

Shin‑Yeon Moon is an illustrator and educator based in New York. She holds an M.F.A. in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts and currently teaches BFA Illustration at both SVA and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her work has been exhibited internationally and recognized by the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, and American Illustration. Shin’s zines and illustrations explore narrative and form with a playful, inventive spirit.
