Wine & Hip Hop and Jermaine Stone present Lambrusco in the Wild: Lovers Roc

Lambrusco in the Wild: Lovers Roc BBQ is a collaborative edition of the national Lambrusco-focused pop-up series in partnership with Wine & Hip Hop to explore Jamaican-American culture and bring a new way to experience wine into the familiar setting of a classic backyard party.

Hosted by Jermaine Stone, Emmy and James Beard–nominated host of Street Somm, founder of Wine & Hip Hop, and Wine Enthusiast 40 under 40 alumni, this event is rooted in the first-generation Jamaican-American story. It honors the flavors we grew up with, like jerk chicken, rice and peas, or callaloo, and introduces wines that elevate those dishes in a way that still feels familiar.

The food will be cooked fresh on-site over a traditional steel drum grill, bringing that deep smoky flavor that takes you somewhere. And instead of the usual Red Stripe or rum punch, we’re pairing it with a wide range of Lambrusco, a chilled, sparkling red wine from Northern Italy that’s bold, refreshing, and built to stand up to heat and spice. It’s got just enough fruit, fizz, and structure to cut through jerk seasoning, grilled meats, and rich sides, making it one of the most slept on categories of wines people don’t talk about enough.

What is Lambrusco in the Wild?

“Lambrusco in the Wild” is a national pop-up series designed to introduce people to Lambrusco, its deep roots in Italy, and its connection to everyday food culture. Literally translated as “wild grape,” Lambrusco is about openness, movement, and shared meals. This edition pairs that with Caribbean-American food traditions, highlighting how wine and culture come together when you meet people where they are.
