Tree Talk in Prospect Park, Brooklyn

The sequoias have learned to live with the fire. They shed their branches to stave off the flames, and only release their seeds unto the fertile aftermath of a cleared forest floor. We come to the forest when we’ve been burned, to plant new growth.

Tree Talk is a spontaneous summer offering sparked by my recent visit to the ancient Sequoias, 3,000-year-old beings I’ve dreamed of learning from for years. I spoke sweet nothings into their roots, I cried, danced and prayed in awe and reverence, felt all my favorite feelings.

There are no sequoias in Brooklyn but there are powerful friends, allies and guardians here, with their own wisdom to share with you. We’ll gather in Prospect Park for a hybrid movement, writing, and meditation practice designed to open a dialogue with the trees around us.
