Queer To Tell: A Storytelling Series

This week's theme - "ICONS" - One common thing about the Queer experience is the icons we use to shape who we are. Many of us didn't have immediate queer role models in our circles growing up, so we looked to media or figures outside of our world to help shape our sense of self. Figures that, while often not queer themselves, embody larger than life qualities that we idolize and use to inspire our own identities. From Cher and Judy Garland, to Ursula and Shego, to Divine and Marsha P. Johnson. This show is for the stories about those icons. The first time we saw them on a magazine, the moment they came across our TV screen, when their song comes on and you can't help but just lip-sync for your life. We love our Gay and Queer Icons, so let's celebrate the impact they had on us!

Seating begins at 7:00. Show starts at 7:30.

ABOUT THE SERIES:

Queer To Tell is a NYC born national storytelling series that features LGBTQIA+ storytellers, is hosted by a local drag/queer performance artist, and takes place at Queer-owned/affirming spaces across the country. The series takes place in non-traditional performance spaces to create a space that feels like an intimate gathering audiences are happening upon rather than a theatrical performance. Each show has a different theme that allows for storytellers to share the universal experiences we as a community share but also the nuances of our different identities. This series was established to document the myriad of stories that exist within the LGBTQIA+ community, facilitate and encourage community building, and claim space in places that are actively celebrating and protecting us.
