Make Your Own Sustainable Mushroom Paper
Mushrooms offer an exciting opportunity as an alternative source for paper production. Creating paper from mushroom pulp closely resembles the traditional method of using cellulose fibers, making it accessible for those interested in exploring sustainable practices.
We’ll start with a brief introduction to the history and science behind mushroom paper, including what makes it different from cellulose-based paper and which mushroom species work best. You'll also receive helpful resources to continue exploring at home.

Roberta Trentin (she/her) is a Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist who works in collaboration with the materials and the unknown outcomes. Her work explores overlooked stories of fungi, microorganisms, and plants in the more-than-human world. A background in science and a love of the earth result in an interweaving of macro/micro observations and deeply personal stories in her work.
Roberta received her Master’s Degree in Agriculture Science and Technology from the university of Florence, Italy before moving to New York City to study Photography in the General Studies program at the International Center of Photography. Roberta earned her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from the NOMAD program at University of Hartford.
