Join us for a captivating lecture with Bette Sloane, exploring the powerful relationship between mathematics and art across time and culture. This journey will take us from Ancient Egypt and Islamic art to Renaissance masterpieces and modern abstraction, revealing how geometry, proportion, and symmetry have served as the secret sauce behind some of history’s most iconic works.

Bette will show us that math is not just a behind-the-scenes player in the creative process—it's a crucial compositional tool that has even inspired artists over centuries. You’ll walk away with intriguing fun facts to share, such as how Leonardo da Vinci illustrated math textbooks. Who knew geometry could look so good?

Bette Sloane has 18 years of experience as a high school and collegiate math educator with a rich background in the arts. She holds a BFA in Photography, along with multiple degrees in Mathematics Education. When she's not teaching, Bette travels the world, exploring the intersections of art, mathematics, and culture.
