Before Sinners (2025) redefined the vampire for a new generation, cinematic bloodsuckers had much to say about society's darkest desires. Join us for a captivating lecture by Professor Isabella Tecson as she explores the evolution of vampire movies, from the silent classic Nosferatu to the cult classic Blacula, and onto modern favorites like Twilight and What We Do In The Shadows.

This engaging talk examines how vampires have been reinvigorated by diverse representations in Black and queer cinema, shifting societal narratives and reflecting our deepest fears and fantasies. Come thirsty for knowledge and ready to delve into the rich tapestry of vampire lore and its cinematic history!

Isabella Tecson is an adjunct professor of screenwriting, creative writing, and English at Queens College, and a creative nonfiction MFA candidate at CCNY. With years of experience as a script doctor and a background in film criticism, she approaches storytelling with a unique perspective infused with humor.
