Artist Biography:
Havva Gökçe – Visual Artist & Ceramic Artist
Born in 1999 in Ardahan, Turkey, Havva Gökçe discovered her passion for art at an early age. She completed both her high school and university-level arts education in Turkey. While attending Kocaeli Fine Arts High School, she participated in numerous group exhibitions and held two solo shows. Graduating at the top of her class, she was accepted into the Ceramics Department at Anadolu University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, where she developed a personal and expressive approach in painting, ceramics, and drawing.
Gökçe’s work delves into themes such as identity, the female body, the human spirit, and mythology. Her portraits are known for their emotional intensity and symbolic language, blending figurative and abstract styles to create deeply layered visual narratives.
Currently based in New York City, she continues her artistic journey while furthering her creative exploration. Deeply inspired by the city’s vibrant energy and cultural diversity, Gökçe finds herself creatively fueled and constantly driven to produce more work in this dynamic environment.
She is now preparing to present her first solo exhibition in New York on May 18, 2025. This exhibition will showcase a wide selection of works combining abstraction, symbolism, and portraiture—reflecting her evolving visual language.
In addition to her studio work, Gökçe also creates custom pencil portraits, noted for their emotional resonance and realistic detail. Each portrait seeks to capture personal identity and inner emotion with care and precision.
Today, Havva Gökçe continues to merge traditional techniques with contemporary perspectives, offering a profound exploration of the human experience through her art.
