Booters Recruiters: NYC Try-outs

Booters is THE dyke diner experience!! For butches, studs, bois, mascs - and those who love us <3 Inclusive of trans, bi, ace and SW dykes always! Started in London last July by a bunch of skint masc dykes who wanted to subvert THAT infamous divey diner and turn it into a celebration of queer masculinity. Not only is it a sexy night, but a chance to uplift a pocket of the queer community that is often desexualised, hypersexualised, erased or politicised. We hire trans women, trans men, non-binary people, sex workers, performers and service industry veterans of all body types!

Within just 8 months of launching in London, we’ve had hundreds of requests to cross the Atlantic - so here we come!! We’re kicking off with a recruitment drive in New York City, and if we like what we see, we’ll get a plan in motion to offer the full dining experience in NYC and beyond later this year. After Eventbrite fees and sales tax, 100% of your ticket goes towards paying for Booters' visas and travel expenses to make our dining event possible on this side of the Atlantic! Along with our fully free-entry events at Cubbyhole on 5/5 and Soft Butch Cafe on 5/9, we will be putting New York’s actual finest to the test at Ginger’s Bar. We’ve recruited a dozen or so strapping butches, studs, bois and mascs to show us how they keep a crowd happy x

The try-outs will involve three rounds designed to test our servers in GRIT, CHARM, and SERVICE, as judged by our panel of London Booters veterans. This will involve LOTS of audience interaction, especially for the first 50 ticket-holders to arrive, so if you want to be in the “splash zone” then get down early! And remember the bar and our servers are CASH ONLY so hit the ATM before you arrive to show our Booters some love.

By 9.30 pm, the try-outs will conclude with one winner being crowned, with a cash prize of $100 AND the eternal glory of winning our first-ever stateside try-outs. Then we’ll be kicking off the after party: karaoke in the front bar and dancing in the back. This part of the night will be open to anyone who misses out on try-out tickets, but subject to venue capacity, so if we’re still full from try-outs when you arrive, you may need to queue.

Finally, throughout the night we will be running a merch table: if you pre-ordered a tee for collection, you can collect it here, or else buy a tee if there are any in your size left (pre-ordering is advised to avoid disappointment). We will also have a raffle to win a one-of-a-kind Booters merch prize - to be announced on our socials closer to the date…
