About Balmir Dance Society
Founded in May of 2011 by Eric Balmir, as Balmir Latin Dance Studio, Balmir Dance remains home of World Dance Champions and ever-evolving artists. Composed of performers and world-class instructors from varying dance backgrounds and ethnicities, they have come together to form some of the most recognizable teams in NYC and around the world. Balmir Latin Dance Company has been internationally acclaimed as one of NYC’s top dance schools. Balmir's dance teams have participated in Salsa Congresses and dance festivals in Rome, Peru, Punta Cana, Toronto, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, just to name a few, and many others across the United States. In 2016, Balmir Dance Company was featured on award winning news program, PIX11 morning news, and at the People En Español Festival, representing the New York International Salsa Congress, New York City's largest and longest-running Latin dance and music event. In May of 2017, BLDC dancers were honored to be part of Robin Hood’s Annual Benefit in NYC, by entertaining its influential crowd, among many other exclusive artists.
In September of 2018, Balmir Dance was acquired by Artist and Instructor Jessica J. Silva. She continued the company's culture and vision. With a group of highly talented and motivated instructors, Balmir Dance offers a wide variety of classes for students of all ages and all levels including Salsa, Bachata, Afro, Kizomba, Hustle, Cha Cha,Pole Dance and much more. International & local instructors offer professional and performance level training. Students range from absolute beginners, to advanced, to competition-ready performers.
The studio’s community-focus represents the diversity of New York, encouraging people from all walks of life to learn to dance and elevate their souls. Currently, Balmir Dance hosts a seasonal free after-work Salsa dance party for the public at the Brooklyn Museum thanks to its partnership with the Brooklyn Museum of New York.
