You are invited to join Rosi Amador, founder, singer, and Argentine/Puerto Rican percussionist of the award-winning group Sol y Canto, based in Boston, for a vocal improvisation session.
This dynamic workshop was designed by Rosi and is based on her studies with Bobby McFerrin and other leaders in vocal improvisation including Rhiannon, Sofia Ribeiro, and Tiago Grade from Portugal.
This workshop is suitable for singers interested in deepening their practice of improvisational singing and circle singing*, especially for those who want to learn more about incorporating Latin rhythms into improvisation.
Using selected techniques from Latin and Brazilian body percussion, along with vocal percussion, you'll learn new tools to use in your own improvisation, including how to recreate the sounds and rhythmic patterns of claves, congas, bongos, maracas, and more, along with Cuban tres, trumpet, trombone, and bass vocalizations.
*Circle Singing was initiated by Bobby McFerrin and refers to community singing led by a leader who teaches musicians parts to improvise on the spot to a group of singers, creating an instant choir with invented syllables.
Get ready to unleash your creativity, deepen your rhythmic skills, and connect with others through the power of shared musical expression!
