With support from AARP's Community Challenge Grant, we are excited to be planting 83 native trees and shrubs in a young woodland habitat which was formerly dominated by invasive species. We need your help to get all these plants in the ground!
Volunteers are welcome to stay as long as they'd like - drop in for an hour, or stay for the full event. This activity is suitable for volunteers aged 10 and up, but all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All participants must register through our website so we can reach out with information about where to meet. If we need to cancel due to inclement weather, only registered participants will be notified.
Attire: all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to protect against thorns, insect bites, and poison ivy. Anyone who is dressed inappropriately (shorts, sandals, etc.) will not be allowed to volunteer. To keep yourself comfortable, we recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Equipment: please bring your own pair of protective work gloves. The gloves should be made of a sturdy material such as leather. If you can, please bring a shovel or trowel for digging. There is no running water available on site - you must bring your own bottle of water to drink.
