After a two-year hiatus, the Twilight International Organ Series returns to St John's Cathedral! On Thursday 9 October at 7pm, Andrej Kouznetsov (Assistant Director of Music) will present a special recital to welcome back the Cathedral organ after the first stage of its long-awaited refurbishment.
The centrepiece of the programme will be the fiery, virtuosic Sonata on the 94th Psalm by the Liszt pupil Julius Reubke - one of the pinnacles of the repertoire. You will also hear a lively, rhythmic Ensalada by Aguilera de Heredia (organist of Zaragoza Cathedral in Spain at the turn of the 17th century), featuring our renowned Spanish Trumpet; Dupré's delicate yet virtuosic Prelude and Fugue in G minor; and Ligeti's other-wordly Second Etude, amongst other works.
