## About

Comedy in Brisbane has two speeds. On one side you have the big-room polish of QPAC, pulling huge crowds for things like RocKwiz LIVE! and the Brisbane Comedy Festival Opening Gala 2026. These are the nights people book ages in advance, dress up slightly nicer than they meant to, and sit in proper theatre seats while the city’s comedy heavyweights roll through town.

Then there is the side that feels a bit rough around the edges, in the best way. Good Chat Comedy Club is where a lot of locals quietly spend their nights, tucked into a room that feels built for punchlines, not Instagram photos. This is where comics work out material, melt down, or absolutely destroy, often all in the same night. If you want the best comedy in Brisbane without the glossy brochure energy, you start here.

The Princess Theatre slots nicely in the middle. It has that relaxed, slightly grand setting that makes solo shows and tours feel special without losing the human factor. Sets from acts like Schalk Bezuidenhout or Grace Jarvis (with a show title like "Getting Dragged Backwards Through A Hedge", you know it is not going to be gentle) play perfectly in a room like this. It is the kind of place you take someone when you secretly want to show off that Brisbane actually has taste.

And then there is Greenlight Comedy, an open mic night that keeps the pipeline moving. This is where future festival posters are currently dying on stage, rewriting, then coming back sharper. It is chaotic, cheap, and full of people who live for this stuff. If you want to see where comedy events in Brisbane really start, it is in rooms like this.

Here is where to look first:

• QPAC: Big-ticket comedy events and festival galas with serious audiences
• Brisbane Comedy Festival Opening Gala 2026: The city’s comedy calendar reset button
• RocKwiz LIVE! at QPAC: Music nerds and comedy fans in the same room, loudly
• Good Chat Comedy Club: The go-to for locals who like their laughs close-up
• The Princess Theatre: Laid-back but polished home for sharp touring shows
• Schalk Bezuidenhout: For fans of high-energy, tightly written stand-up
• Grace Jarvis | Getting Dragged Backwards Through A Hedge: Smart, oddball storytelling with bite
• Greenlight Comedy [An Open Mic Night]: Exactly where the next wave of Brisbane comics is figuring it out
