Next Assembly, in a break from regular scheduled programming, we decided to ask YOU - our lovely Sunday Assembly community - to talk about something / tell some story / do a show(!) you're passionate about for our Lightning Talks assembly! We all like hearing the inspiring and/or mad things people have been brewing in their various corners of humanity... so what's happening in our own corner? We've got six people from our own community, speaking for 5 minutes max, to illuminate this corner and find out about the humanity that was in us all along. But if you think you have a five minute talk in you and you'd like a friendly audience to try it out on, please email us at
c3VuZGF5YXNzZW1ibHlicmlnaHRvbiB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t - we'd like to be able to give newcomers a go!
In keeping with this theme, money raised at this month's assembly will go to locally-based charity with national reach, @sayaphasia Say Aphasia*. Aphasia is a communication disability that occurs when the communication centres of the brain are damaged, due to events like stroke or head injury. Say Aphasia runs support groups & befriending schemes to support those affected by aphasia, and support them into their new ways of living.
Beyond that, our regular round of singing, poetry, food bank**, tea (bring your keep-cup!), cake***, and friendly chit-chat with old friends and new****, to keep our spirits up and community warm :) Click the link in bio or see our Facebook/website for more details! #sundayassemblybrighton #sundayassembly #brighton #lightningtalks #whatsonbrighton #wondermore #livebetter #helpoften
* money raised will be split 50:50 between the charity and Sunday Assembly (for running costs, venue hire, tea, etc)
** tins of food, dry packet food, toiletries, and so on to be distributed to Brighton food banks by us at Sunday Assembly :)
*** and if you're a keen baker - bring cake/brownies/your great bake-off practice pieces!
**** hey, tell your friends and bring them along too - more people = more community = more singing and good times :)
***** 5th asterisk fact time is back! Lightning can be different colours! Going blue in high humidity, yellow in dusty atmospheres, and _red_ lightning seen (though very rarely seen) high above thunderstorms
