Street Poets Brighton
Walk & Write
With Performance Poet & Wellbeing Mentor
Seanin Friel
Street Poets Brighton is a wellbeing & creativity initiative for neurodivergent teens in Brighton & Hove. Across the summer we will host two hour 'walk and writes' from city settings- where teens will walk, take pictures, ignore us or chat at their choosing, finally convening to create a poem or a piece of writing from what we've gathered along the way.
I'm Seanin Friel, an Irish performance poet, writer and previous teacher of English who is also neurodivergent, and very keen to give neurodivergent teenagers the room, space and freedom to be themselves.
This was rarely possible in a classroom.
The walks will take place in Brighton central, the promenade, the Pavillion and surrounding areas, over the summer months. They need only bring a pen and paper, and are under no obligation to talk if they don't want to. They'll be happening once a week, and I'll inform of meeting points, and pickups, beforehand. It's £5 for a session but concessions are available.
If you're keen on being involved, or have a young person at home who might benefit, feel free to whatsapp me directly via this page.
FIRST WALK: 25TH JULY @ 10AM from Brighton Pavillion Park
Meet on the green in front of the cafe, and will walk the lanes and return to the park at the end!
See you soon,
Seanin
