Sewing Machine Basics

Don’t know your bobbin from your backstitch? This class is ideal for complete beginners as you will be shown how to set up a sewing machine and get stitching with confidence! If you have a sewing machine, but not a clue how to use it, or you’d like a refresher on how to use a sewing machine, this is the class for you!

Laura will take you through the basics and you’ll have a chance to practice with her on hand to support you. After a run through on basics, we will work on producing a piece of patchwork from fabric squares and make it into a simple project such as a cushion cover or glasses case.

By the end of the session you will be able to:

- Thread a sewing machine

- Wind a bobbin

- Understand settings such as stitch length and different stitch types

- Care for your sewing machine with some basic maintenance tips

Set in a lovely, light studio in Hove, there’s plenty of space and refreshments on hand during the session.

Please bring your own machine (or borrow one!) however we do have a couple spare here you can use - just let us know when you book.
