Mango Ritual

Mango Ritual is a captivating live experience inspired by Akila Richards’ 2024 poetry pamphlet Ritual for a Mango available here.

Step into a world of requiem and rapture—an exploration of what it means to be human, to feel deeply, and to imagine a more expansive collective future.

Award-winning poet Akila Richards leads this poetic ritual, joined by an extraordinary lineup of artists: Cuban Afro-Latin singer, songwriter and poet Adriana Lord; British-Congolese vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Liz Ikamba; and dynamic cellist and performing artist Simone Seales.

The performance also features a powerful short film interpretation of the central poem, choreographed and danced by Munya Muchati, with layered spoken word and evocative recorded music.
