About the event

Boogie For Good 22
Our annual football tournament and gig charity day and night is taking place on Saturday September 20th 2025. This is our 22nd night and we have raised nearly £23,000 throughout the last 17 years for 25 different charities, and we hope to raise further funds for 3 great causes.

We will be returning back to our favourite local pub, The Round Georges. There will be the usual selection of fantastic live music from 7pm including Adam Smith, Lucy Powderly and Skulldiggity. Of course, there will be the usual excellent raffle prizes to win as well.

As usual now, we are combining our night with the Hamilton Lodge memorial 5 aside football tournament during the day. This is in memory of 3 friends; Declan, Sam and Loz, from a small Thursday night 5 aside league, who have all tragically taken their own lives way too early and we sorely miss them. We want to help raise awareness about mental health and there are amazing charities and people out there who can help. Life can be hard at times and especially at the moment after Covid, rising prices and energy crisis. There are several mental health charities out there and we are raising money for a local Brighton one, Grassroots Suicide Prevention (we have also raised money for Mind and Pavilions in previous years).

The tournament will be a 1400 meet at Hamilton Lodge School (BN2 0LS) and the pitches are tucked away down an alley at the back. All players and friends are welcome back to the pub after for drinks, live music and excellent locally sourced pub food will be available to buy.

We are also raising money for 2 other causes as well, Saltdean Swim and Surf who do amazing work teaching children swimming and life saving skills. Finally we will raise money for the RNLI. They are saving lives at sea every day and living in Brighton, we are very grateful and lucky to have them here. Also, it is in memory of Colin Wright, one of my best friends' Dad, who sadly passed away earlier this year from cancer. He was heavily linked with the RNLI and his Aunt funded for a boat in Kent.

All proceeds across the whole day will be split between the 3 charities and see more details below.

Grassroots – Suicide prevention
https://www.prevent-suicide.org.uk/
'Grassroots is an award-winning charity and UK leader in suicide prevention. We believe that suicide can be prevented through open and direct conversations.
Our aim is simple but powerful: no one should have to contemplate suicide alone.
We work locally and nationally with communities, organisations and individuals, helping them to become ready, willing and able to effectively support someone at risk of suicide, experiencing a mental health problem, or someone who self-harms.'

Saltdean Swim and Surf Club
https://www.saltdeanssc.org/
Our vision: To bring together the local community to have fun and learn respect for the water and the surrounding environment.
We are extremely proud to be Surf Life Saving GB affiliated so we can deliver safe, fun and engaging sessions to our community.

RNLI
https://rnli.org/
RNLI lifeboat crews protect hundreds of communities around the UK and Ireland through our 24-hour search and rescue service. To do so, they rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations to launch from.
Saving lives at sea requires lifeboats that can battle the elements, lifeboat stations from which to launch from, and your support. Every lifeboat launch, and every life saved, is only possible thanks to the generosity of people like you.

So spread the word and we hope to see loads of people there to support these fantastic charities. Entry is an optional £5 per person on the night so an absolute bargain for what you get. It is £10 per person for the football tournament and that includes entry to the evening. So come along, have a great night with live music and Boogie For Good!

PS. If anyone is keen in taking part in the 5 aside tournament during the day then please let me know.

Keep on Boogieing
Chris and Debs
