The Big Rock Pool Challenge is a fun, competitive rock-pooling event where participants race against time to discover and identify local marine species. As part of our community-driven project, you’ll help gather valuable data supporting UK marine biodiversity conservation.

- Bioblitz Battle: Work in teams to discover and identify as many species as possible within a set timeframe. No experience is needed—we’ll provide guidance, equipment, and expert help.
-‍ Educational Sessions: You will learn to identify species, understand their ecology, and gain insights into marine surveys
- Fun for All Ages: Perfect for families, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy a day by the sea while contributing to vital conservation work.

Whether you're a seasoned rock pooler or a first-timer, this event is for everyone!

The Big Rock Pool Challenge is led by The Rock Pool Project in partnership with The Marine Biological Association and has been made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The ScottishPower Foundation!
