Round Oak Steel Works Monument Opening (unofficial)

The Unofficial opening of the Round Oak Steel Works monument.


On the day Richard Smith died 157 years ago


I have decided to have another opening of the monument as the first one neglected to allow anyone to attend leaving many veterans of Round Oak Steel Works and their descendants feeling left out and a bit disappointed, this includes myself.


And so we the people will have our own opening and celebrate our amazing heritage our own way. I have chosen Monday 21st of July as on that day 157 years ago Richard Smith died, he was the mineral agent of the then Earl and it was he a humble Tipton born lad who made the works possible by improving and developing the mines of the area from 1836 through till 1864 he revitalised the area with his radical thinking making ROSW possible.
