You are invited to the Opening Reception for Victoria Manning's new art show "Searching For Tranquility" on Thursday, August 7th at 6:30pm. This is your opportunity to view her beautiful artwork and meet the artist behind the magic.
Victoria Manning, Owner of The Verni Art Gallery, Gift Shop and Coffee House in Caledonia, NS, is an artist and designer living and working in her homeland of Nova Scotia. She had spent 19 years in Toronto and Montreal developing her skills and experiencing lots that the art and decor world had to offer. Her work has been displayed in Canada, United States and Europe and has been collected Internationally.
She has been involved in many forms of art from a very young age and spends most days painting. Her earlier works focusing mainly on nature landscape, she evolved into the realm of abstraction 13 years ago and often merges the two styles. For the most part, her work is large, and brightly colored yet brings a sense of calm into a space.
She is an educated colorist, formally trained in the Interior Decor industry and her work flows with knowledge of balance, harmony and composition. Her paintings focus on taking viewers to familiar places and memories of traveled destinations.
The Inspiration behind the exhibition, Searching For Tranquility
Victoria seeks accessible nature spaces everywhere she has lived, so when she came across a unique building for rent near Kejimkujik National Park, her first thought was to open an Art Gallery and Gift Shop in aTourism driven area. She wanted to introduce her abstract paintings to Nova Scotia - home was always here for her no matter where she lived and created. Finally, in the summer of 2024, Victoria was coming back to her roots. With her Senior dog Pedro, she needed to find a peaceful place, in tranquil surroundings. Pedro was in his last few months of his life and she wanted to be immersed in nature, to live simply and slowly. She found all of this, living by the river and creating in a town in 'the middle of everywhere'. Victoria has since expanded her business and has moved into the old bank in downtown Caledonia. The community has become a solid support system like she has never experienced before, and the level of tranquility that comes from living, and creating, in a small town has become one of her favourite places she has ever called home.
