"The Colours Within" - a Japanese anime for all ages

"The Colors Within" is a coming-of-age anime from acclaimed director Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice) and studio Science SARU.

Set in a Catholic girls’ school, the story follows Totsuko, a teenager who sees people’s emotions as colours. When she meets the enigmatic Kimi and the eccentric Rui, the trio forms a band that becomes a sanctuary for self-expression and healing. Through music, friendship, and emotional discovery, they learn to embrace their true selves in a world that often demands conformity.

The film will be followed by an art workshop for young people and separately a discussion of Japanese culture led by Keiko Okawa, a resident of Brentwood.
