A Service of Word based on Galatians 6:1-16
As Paul closes his letter to the Galatians, he reiterates his warning that faith, more than the law, is what is important. He also leaves a few words of encouragement for the members of the community: support one another. These words speak just as loudly to us today as to the first century Galatians. But how do we support each other, especially if we come from different communities and backgrounds? How can Paul help us to support our 2SLGBTQ+ siblings?
Points to Ponder
In the NRSV version of this text, we are encouraged to “bear one another’s burdens,” but “all must carry their own loads” (Gal 6:2,5). How does the NLT’s translation of “share each other’s burdens” and “we are each responsible for our own conduct” help us understand this passage?
What is Paul talking about in Gal 6:12 when he says, “those who are trying to force you to be circumcised want to look good to others”?
How does inclusivity help us grow?
Challenge
What can we learn from the 2SLGBTQ+ community?
