This class is an introduction to how foods fight cancer. It guides participants to make the critical connection between diet and the risk of developing various forms of cancer. With a focus on low-fat plant-based nutrition, participants develop an understanding of specific foods and nutrients that either promote or discourage cancer development. The class will feature a cooking demonstration of delicious, health-promoting dishes, along with handouts of easy and affordable recipes participants can prepare at home.
The intended audience for this class includes cancer survivors and their family and friends as well as individuals looking to prevent cancer. Classes are not meant for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Food for Life: The Cancer Project is a nutrition and cooking program developed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). This 9-class series is based on the latest evidence linking diet to cancer prevention and survival. Through nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and supportive discussion, participants learn how to take charge of their health.

This course is led by Ellen Jaffe Jones, licensed Food for Life instructor, author, speaker, health coach and National Senior Games medalist. She is a former 2-time Emmy winning investigative Miami TV reporter who has taught plant-based cooking for 45 years. Ellen and her family were part of the original BRCa1 and 2 gene studies. Be prepared for a filling, delicious dinner!
