Bear Heaven Vertical Weekend JULY 3-6

The Bear Heaven Vertical Weekend is the annual COG training event for members who would like to learn vertical or put their intermediate vertical skills to practice.

We utilize the beautiful Bear Heaven Day Use Area to rappel down 30 ft sandstone boulders surrounded by azalea and mountain laurel. More experienced cavers can work on skills such as traverse and rebelay. We will have loaner equipment on hand and expert instruction.

We will also visit some nearby caves or pits and a possibly a fire tower for additional practice. I’ll prepare a detailed agenda as the date approaches. In the meantime, reach out to me or Jason Glancy with any questions.

Cost is $5 bucks a night, per site to camp at Bear Heaven. (The sites are large enough to accommodate more than one family and at least two cars.) No water, but there's a pit toilet, picnic table and fire ring. We’ll head down to town for some meals and possibly fireworks on Friday night, but you’ll also be preparing your own meals on site, so be prepared.
