We’re buzzing to announce the return of Meryl Streek to Bournemouth this September — one of Ireland’s fiercest and most fearless voices in modern punk.
Since last hitting Bournemouth in 2023, Meryl’s been on a serious mission:
After dropping debut album “796” in 2022 that confronted the abuses of the Catholic Church, corruption, and grief with brutal honesty and raw energy, 2024 saw Meryl release the critically acclaimed follow-up, "Songs for the Deceased". Covering betrayal, murder and injustice, his latest album takes aim at systemic failures within our political and social systems, exploring these abuses with even more raw power and emotional depth.
Extensive touring across Ireland, the UK, and Europe (including upcoming appearances at 2000 Trees, ArcTanGent and Damnation festivals) — earning a reputation for incendiary live shows that are equal parts punk chaos, confrontation and cathartic release.
Sharing the stage with heavy hitters including Public Image LTD, Kneecap, Dead Kennedys, Bob Vylan, Benefits and many more — he's cemented his place as a fierce, outspoken voice in modern avantgarde punk. Picking up praise and support from the likes of Kerrang!, The Guardian, NME, and BBC 6Music, who’ve all hailed him as one of the most vital underground voices to emerge in years.
The Anvil Rockbar Bournemouth will host Meryl Streek alongside special guests Soapbox (soapboxband). Since their inception, they've rapidly gained attention for their unapologetic sound, DIY ethos and intense live shows. Their music draws inspiration from punk legends like The Damned and contemporary acts such as Soft Play, Amyl and the Sniffers, and Viagra Boys. Lyrically, they tackle themes of social disillusionment, austerity, and everyday frustrations, resonating with audiences seeking authenticity and grit.
Opening proceedings are Tarmac (Tarmac the Band). A post-punk/noise rock trio hailing from the coast of East Kent. Drawing inspiration from bands like METZ, IDLES, Show Me The Body and Osees, they deliver high-octane British punk infused with fuzzed-out, wall-to-wall dirge and noise rock.
This is a stacked bill not to be missed! See you there.
