At Research Café, you can explore the latest research taking place at Bournemouth University. Enjoy listening to a short talk before engaging in debate and discussion with our guest speaker and audience.
We’ll be joined on Tuesday 1 July, from 6:30 to 8pm, by researchers from Bournemouth University who will share insights from the Sonamoni Project, an international collaboration funded by the National Institute for Health Research. Sonamoni is focused on preventing drowning among young children in rural Bangladesh.
In many of these communities, the way children are kept safe directly affects whether women can work. This talk will explore how community-led safety initiatives for children can also help support women’s livelihoods.
The research brings together a diverse team from three UK universities, the RNLI, the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research in Bangladesh, and Design without Borders in Uganda. The event will also feature an interactive virtual reality experience that brings the research to life.
Research Café will be held on campus at Bournemouth University Gateway Building Café, St Paul's Lane, Bournemouth, BH8 8GP
Although the talk starts at 6:30pm, the café will be open from 6pm so we encourage you to arrive early for a drink or a bite to eat before the talk starts.
UPDATE: Out-of-hours parking at BGB is now open to the public. A pay-and-display system is in place, and public parking is available from 4pm onwards
