Brain Health Roadmap for Optimal Longevity

In this lecture, Dr. Ilene Naomi Rusk discusses the history of Alzheimer’s research, the effectiveness of pharmaceuticals for dementias and cognitive health, and her data-driven lifestyle pillars of brain and emotional health: food, movement, sleep, stress management, cognitive stimulation, and social engagement. Her talk covers an integrative approach to optimal cognitive aging. She also discusses the impact of stress on brain health and health in general, explains why people have cognitive problems, offers solutions to memory problems, and suggests ways to create flexibility in the nervous system for the health of the body, soul and mind.

She is Director of the Healthy Brain Program and Co-Founder of the Brain and Behavior Clinic in Colorado. Rusk has a PhD in Neuropsychopharmacology and several post-doctoral fellowships. She was one of the first providers trained by Dr. Dale Bredesen in a Functional Medicine approach to treating Alzheimer’s. Dr Rusk weaves functional medicine, trauma healing, and polyvagal theory into her engaging model and shares practical tools for optimizing joy and brain longevity.
