About the event

Getting to Better Algorithms: How to Fix Our Feeds
NCSL Happy Hour hosted by the Knight-Georgetown Institute

About this Event

The Knight-Georgetown Institute (KGI) is excited to invite you to “Getting to Better Algorithms: How to Fix Our Feeds,” a special happy hour event on August 5 on the sidelines of the NCSL Summit.

Addressing the harms of social media algorithms – from kids online safety to shadow-banning and beyond – has often meant a binary choice: we can have algorithms that cause harm, or we can ban algorithmic feeds altogether. But evidence shows that there are better alternatives.

Join KGI, a new center that provides practical, research-backed resources for policymakers tackling today’s toughest tech issues, to learn about the latest evidence into how to redesign AI-driven algorithmic feeds and what it means for state-level policymaking. Programming will be light and informal, so stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time.
