The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program and the Cavalier Players encourages local actors to attend the Audition Prep Workshop presented by Lari Leber on August 6th at 6:00pm in the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre in Building C on the BPCC campus, 6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City.
You’ve landed the audition, what’s next? This workshop will cover useful tricks on how to perfectly prepare to nail your next audition. What monologue is best? How can I get my nerves to settle down? Do these pants match this shirt? What does it even mean to “win” a part?! These topics and more will be discussed. Those wanting the most assistance should come prepared with a 45-second dramatic monologue to receive feedback. Please bring water, a notebook, and any burning questions you have always wanted to ask a director.
Our host, Lari Leber, is a Shreveport native. A BPCC Theatre alum herself, she went on to receive her bachelors in Theatre from NSULA and then her master’s from Louisiana Tech University’s School of Theatre. Lari’s first passion is acting; her favorite role to-date being Alice Beineke in The Addams Family. (LA Tech and BPCC). Ms. Leber has directed numerous musicals, her favorite being I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. She most recently directed Radium Girls at Captain Shreve High School. She was presented the 2020 Arthur W. Stone Playwrighting Award from LA Tech by renowned playwright and screenwriter, Qui Nguyen (She Kills Monsters and Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon and Strange World). Her latest accolade is a Meritorious Award for Excellence from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for her Fight Choreography in BPCC’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. Ms. Leber is passionate about helping actors “find their light” and encourages all who are interested in having more confidence in the audition process to come play.
Once you’ve attended the workshop, consider auditioning for BPCC’s next production, An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe. Auditions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18 in the Stephen W.
