About the event

Auditions for An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe
The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program and the Cavalier Players encourages local actors to audition for the staged drama, An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe.

Auditions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18 in the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre in Building C on the BPCC campus, 6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City. Actors should bring a headshot and resume if available, though not required. It is recommended that actors arrive at least 15 minutes early to auditions to complete an audition form.

BPCC Theatre’s Fall production is directed by Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, Director of the Performing Arts Program and Professor of Theatre. Poe’s short stories are adapted by Robert Mason.

Publisher’s Synopsis: Enter the wonderfully creepy world of Edgar Allan Poe with six faithful adaptations of some of his most haunting works. From old favorites such as The Cask of Amontillado, and The Purloined Letter, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Tell-Tale Heart to lesser known gems like The Oblong Box and The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether, this collection of short plays represents Poe at his most horrifying.

To be cast are four women, eight men, and 2 or any gender. All roles in this fair-sized ensemble are available to be cast -- Community members are urged to audition as well. BPCC Theatre encourages performers aged 17 and older to audition.

Those auditioning should expect to move about, read from the script, and improvise a bit. If you have a monologue prepared, you may present it. All returning BPCC Theatre students are required to present a 45 second monologue. However, no prepared monologues are required of other students or community members auditioning. Also, those auditioning should dress comfortably and be prepared to move about on stage.

Show dates for An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe are set for 7:30 p.m., Oct. 3, 4, 10, 11, and 2:00 p.m., Oct. 5 and 12.
