About the event

Qi Gong Instructor's Course - Bonnybridge
Shibashi Qi Gong, also known as Taiji Qi Gong Shibashi, is a popular form of Qi Gong comprising of 18 gentle, flowing movements designed to harmonise body, mind, and breath.

This 6-month course will give participants the skill to teach Set 1 of Shibashi Qi Gong. Shibashi Set 1 is a gentle and flowing Qi Gong exercise routine that was created by Professor Lin Hou-Sheng and is designed to improve health and wellbeing. It consists of 18 movements that are coordinated with breathing and focused attention, offering a range of physical and emotional benefits.

Shibashi is possibly the youngest Qi Gong form, it was only developed in early 1980’s. It has been designed as a system that helps to improve the general health and wellbeing of the practitioner. Shibashi includes different types of movement – stretching improves circulation and digestion whilst lung conditions and asthma can be positively affected by the chest exercises and controlled breathing.

The Shibashi moves are simple to learn, and the set can be performed as a gentle, flowing movement practice. It is helpful to know about the internal workings of the body, including the meridians system. This will be touched about in this course, but not in great depth. Knowing more about the meridians helps both the teacher and the practitioner to practice to a deeper level. The meridians will be covered in more detail in our Level 2 Training.

This course is designed will allow anyone wishing to explore Qi Gong to a deeper level and understanding in Shibashi. Although this is an instructor course, it can be used to deepen understanding of Qi Gong.

Instructors will be trained at Level 1. This involves the movement side of this practice. There will be future option to train at Level 2, which includes energy.

Key Features of our Shibashi Qi Gong Instructor Training Course:
• Comprehensive Curriculum: covers the 18 foundational Shibashi movements, Qi Gong theory. A light touch into Qi energy and the meridian system will be provided, but this is covered in more detail in Level 2 training.
• Sessions are in-person, taking place every week on a Tuesday 7.30-8.30pm. There is a full day to bring learning together, plus a half-day assessment. Written materials will also be provided to aid learning.

To qualify as an instructor, you are required to:
• Demonstrate all 18 movements.
• Show understanding of Qi Gong principles and meridians.
• Pass a practical assessment.

Prior familiarity with the Shibashi system or Qi-based practices is recommended for those intending to teach, but is not essential.

This course starts on Tuesday 16th September 7.30-8.30pm, running on a Tuesday night until 17th February. There will be two weeks off over Christmas (23rd and 30th December). The full day will take place on Sunday 25th January 10am-4pm, and the assessment day will be held on Sunday 22nd February 10am-2pm.

To be eligible for the assessment, participants will have had to attend 75% of the sessions (15 or more) plus the full day, and the assessment day. The full course costs £395. Payments can be split, but the full amount needs to have been paid prior to the course starting.

It’s possible to come along for the training sessions to learn this Shibashi set more rigorously, without completing the assessment. The cost of this is £260.
