Our Pixie Circle welcomes you to our Lammas Celebration at midday on Friday 1st August, meeting at Hotham Park in the amphitheatre near London Road car park.
We will be sharing our Lammas ritual with singing and words for everyone to join in, celebrating the warmth of the summer and the blessings of the first harvest of fruits and flowers and hearing the tales of the norse god Freyr.
Lammas, also know as Lughnasadh, is the next ritual to fall after the summer solstice and the opposite ritual to Imbolc. Just as with Imbolc we start to notice the days getting longer, at the time of Lammas we notice daylight shortening.
We will be sharing stories of Freyr, the twin of Freya who's story we told at Imbolc. Freyr, reminds us of fertility, prosperity, peace and fair weather. You might like to bring along cheese or seasonal fruits and vegetables to remind us of the abundance of the season.
You're welcome to bring along drums, rattles and bells as we like to make a bit of noise. You might also like to wear your favourite hat or mask, anything that makes you feel magical.
Feel free to stay for our sharing picnic. Bring along a blanket or chair, a cup and food to share.
Find us at the green amphitheatre in Hotham Park, located between the wildlife area and the pizza cafe. It is easy to reach from the London Road car park, where there are toilets and accessible parking. Nearest bus stop is Butlins. There is no charge for this event and all donations are gratefully received.
