Nordland Musikkfestuke har sammen med NOUA gleden av å invitere til åpning av utstilling med kunstner Maja Daniels. Publikum ønskes velkommen til dyptgående utstilling og tematikk, med kunstner til stede.
Maja Daniels er en svensk fotobasert kunstner. Arbeidene hennes er påvirket av studiene hennes i sosiologi og kan beskrives som en flerlags praksis som inkluderer sosiologi, lyd, levende bilder og arkivmaterialer. I utstillingen Gertrud til Nordland Musikkfestuke presenterer Daniels et arbeide skapt over flere år, med bakgrunn fra de svenske heksejaktene, massehysteri, myter og nye dialoger.
Fotografiene i utstillingen ble skapt av Daniels gjennom intervensjoner i skogen. Ved å bruke landskapet, en rekke karakterer og tilsynelatende talismaniske objekter, har hun trukket på et surrealistisk ønske om å «gjenfortrylle verden».

Maja Daniels er basert i Malmö, og arbeidene hennes har blitt utstilt i Paris, London, New York, Amsterdam og Bilbao. Hun har mottatt en rekke priser og har siden 2020 jobbet som førstelektor i film ved Instituttet for film, fotografi og litterær komposisjon ved Göteborgs universitet (HDK-Valand). Hennes første bok, Elf Dalia vant den svenske prisen for årets fotobok i 2020, ble nominert til Aperture-Paris Photo First book Award i 2019 og ble kåret til en av årets beste bøker av blant annet The Guardian og The Financial Times Magazine.

Nordland Musikkfestuke, together with NOUA, is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Gertrud by Maja Daniels. The audience is welcome to an in-depth exhibition and thematic discussion, with the artist present.
Maja Daniels is a Swedish photo-based artist. Her work is influenced by her studies in sociology and can be described as a multi-layered practice that includes sociology, sound, moving images and archival materials. In the exhibition Gertrud for Nordland Musikkfestuke, Daniels presents a work created over several years, with a background from the Swedish witch hunts, mass hysteria, myths and new dialogues.
The photographs in the exhibition were created by Daniels through interventions in the forest. By using the landscape, a number of characters and seemingly talismanic objects, she has drawn on a surrealist desire to "re-enchant the world".

Maja Daniels is based in Malmö, and her work has been exhibited in Paris, London, New York, Amsterdam and Bilbao. She has received numerous awards and has worked as a senior lecturer in film at the Department of Film, Photography and Literary Composition at the University of Gothenburg (HDK-Valand) since 2020. Her first book, Elf Dalia, won the Swedish Photo Book of the Year Award in 2020, was nominated for the Aperture-Paris Photo First Book Award in 2019 and was named one of the best books of the year by The Guardian and The Financial Times Magazine, among others.
