Artist in Focus Tour - Ai Weiwei

Ai Weiwei is one of the most influential and politically engaged artists of our time. Known for challenging authority and redefining cultural symbols, Ai invites us to see familiar forms in unfamiliar ways.

This staff-led conversation in the galleries focuses on three of his works featured in "Glasstress Boca Raton 2025":

– "Vases in Five Colors" (2024), a vivid group of glass vessels that reimagine traditional Chinese ceramics while questioning how objects gain and lose value

– "Artist as Invidia" (2022), a reinterpretation of a Baroque bust that replaces the classical figure’s face with Ai’s own, blending digital scanning and traditional casting to explore identity and power

– "White Chandelier" (2021), an opulent glass installation filled with charged objects like handcuffs, crabs, and a raised middle finger, each layered with meaning that complicates notions of beauty and control

This tour is FREE with with paid museum admission
An additional docent-led highlights tour begins at 2:00 pm
