SRP-SW-ARP-0026 Swannanoa River Floodbench & Constructed
Wetlands and Hemphill Park Feasibility Study & Master Plan PUBLIC MEETING - June 11, 2025 - 4:00-6:00 p.m.
The Swannanoa River Floodbench & Constructed Wetlands project will use natural channel design techniques to improve water quality by reducing erosion and mitigate flooding during the more frequent storm events on approximately 2800 LF of the River.
The first portion of the project is along the south bank of the
Swannanoa River between Hemphill Road and Norfolk
Southern Railway.
The second portion of the project is along the south bank of the
Swannanoa River between Norfolk Southern Railway and Interstate 40 east of Riverwalk Park identified in the 2009 Stormwater Master Plan.
This public meeting will introduce the Swannanoa River
Floodbench Project and provide an opportunity for the public to
ask questions related to the project.
Meeting Location: River Walk Dog Park
**Parking available behind the former Bi-Lo grocery store (205 NC-9, Black Mountain, NC 28711).
This meeting is a drop-in event and is open to the public.
