Education Law Seminar (Equality Act 2010)

This seminar, presented by specialist education lawyer Iain Nisbet, is an opportunity to take a detailed look at the law of "reasonable adjustments" as it relates to disabled pupils in schools in Scotland (including local authority schools, independent schools and grant-aided schools).

The event will be of interest to professionals working in the education sector, to those from voluntary sector agencies and to parents and carers of disabled pupils. It will include:

• an explanation of the wider context of the law for disabled pupils at school;
• a detailed look at what the reasonable adjustment duties require for schools;
• case studies including exclusion from school, school trips and absence from school / learning from home;
• consideration of examples from the EHRC Technical Guidance and the caselaw of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland;
• a Q&A (question and answer) session; and
• a full printed handout for each delegate.

Location: The Fort Theatre

The Seminar will be taking place at The Fort Theatre, a community owned and operated venue in Bishopbriggs.

Seminar registration begins at 10am, with the seminar getting underway in earnest by 10.15am. There will be a 15 minute comfort break at around 11.15am.
