This summer, we're excited to enhance our in between seasons event program by shifting from three evening meetings to a series of planned activities centered around various photographic themes and experiences.
Current members and prospective new members are welcome to join these events, providing a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. It's an excellent informal way for new members to get acquainted with the Dunchurch Photographic Society, share experiences from the events, and pick up photography tips.
Bring your camera, drone, or phone as appropriate, and join us at the designated time and venue to kick off the activities.
A visit to Birmingham Botanical Gardens offers a delightful experience for nature lovers and families alike. Here's what you can expect:
Beautiful Gardens and Glasshouses
The gardens span 15 acres and feature a wide range of plants from tropical rainforests to arid deserts. You can explore four stunning glasshouses, each with its own unique climate and plant collection. The Tropical House, Subtropical House, Mediterranean House, and Arid House showcase diverse flora from around the world.
Seasonal Blooms
Throughout the year, the gardens are filled with seasonal blooms. Spring brings vibrant tulips and daffodils, while summer showcases roses and lavender. Autumn offers a display of colorful foliage, and winter highlights the beauty of evergreens and winter-flowering plants.
Wildlife and Aviaries
The gardens are home to various wildlife, including exotic birds housed in aviaries. You might spot butterflies, bees, and other pollinators as you stroll through the gardens.
Visitor Facilities
The gardens have a café where you can enjoy refreshments, although it may occasionally be closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Pop-up vendors on the Terrace and snacks from the Gardens Shop are available. There are also picnic areas if you prefer to bring your own food.
Accessibility
The gardens are accessible to all visitors, with paths suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Complimentary wheelchairs are available for checkout at the front desk.
Weather, Opening Hours and admission fee
The weather at Birmingham Botanical Gardens can be quite variable, so it's a good idea to check the forecast before your visit.
The gardens are open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During the summer, they extend their hours to 6:00 PM.
