Birmingham Festival Theatre is thrilled to announce open auditions for GHOSTS, a powerful new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece, adapted and directed by James Kitchens.
Set against the humid, stormy backdrop of Mobile, Alabama, in the fall of 1985, this adaptation is a raw, stylized, and unflinching look at the secrets that rot a family from within. We are seeking a dynamic cast of 5 actors to bring this haunting psychological drama to life.

AUDITION DETAILS:
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
Sides will be provided at the audition. No prepared monologue is necessary.

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:
HELENE ALVING (40s): The poised and intelligent matriarch of the Alving estate. Beneath her elegant surface lies a will of iron and a lifetime of carefully kept secrets.
OSWALD ALVING (25): Her son, a pale and intense artist just returned from Paris. Worldly and restless, he is haunted by a weariness that goes far beyond simple fatigue.
REVEREND MANDERS (40s): A prominent and pious preacher deeply concerned with propriety and public perception. A man more comfortable with dogma than with messy truths.
REGINA ENGSTRAND (18): The Alving's maid. Sharp, poised, and beautiful, she carries herself with a confidence that belies her station and dreams of escaping her life.
JACKIE ENGSTRAND (40s-50s): Regina's mother. A work-worn but still beautiful woman who has survived a hard life with cynical wit and a manipulative streak. A formidable force of nature.
