Souvenir - two masterpieces for string sextet
Our Summer Festival begins in style, with a feast of string playing that showcases the brilliance and emotional depth of chamber music at its finest. Led by Thelma Handy, festival artistic director and leader of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the evening promises a thrilling musical encounter with two masterpieces for string sextet.
Mozart's Grande Sestetto Concertante, a stunning arrangement of his Sinfonia Concertante, brims with sparkling dialogue and graceful interplay between the six instruments, perfectly capturing the elegance, charm and wit of Mozart's genius. In contrast, Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence bursts with passion and lyricism, blending lush romantic harmonies with vibrant rhythms inspired by his time in Italy.
Whether you're already a chamber music fan or a curious newcomer who fancies a night of virtuoso live music in an informal setting, this programme of rich string textures, played by some of the region's' finest musicians, is sure to leave you wanting more.
