Another Art House staff member's birthday is coming up real soon, and they are inviting you to Art House Cinema and Pub to see a special screening of a film of their choice! This time, our awesome employee Jessica Schaff is celebrating her birthday with one of her favorite films, the fangtastic 1987 teenage-horror-drama from Joel Schumacher, THE LOST BOYS, playing Wednesday, August 20th! This stylish and entertaining take on the vampire subgenre not only delivers on all the blood and seduction you'd want from something like this, but also hits the viewer with some greatly executed themes of the loss of innocence, complicated desires to rebel and belong, and the seduction of bad behavior- ideas that resonated particular well with the disgruntled youth of Reagan-era America! With a distinctive flair, incredible performances from people like Kiefer Sutherland, and an amazing soundtrack, THE LOST BOYS is moody, bloody, funny thrill of a film that should not be missed!
When brothers Michael and Sam Emerson move with their mother to a small northern California town, Michael eventually falls in with a rebellious crowd of nocturnal punks who hope to show him how fun and freeing the life of a vampire can be. Learning of this, Sam and his comic book nerd friends, the Frog brothers, must gear up to save Michael and his love interest from becoming creatures of the night!
Make sure you stop in and let Jessica know how excited you are for this one and how much you appreciate her work- she's the coolest!
