Join local naturalist Mary Breeds on a circular guided walk to explore the famous dunes and discover the spring flora that is unique to this area.

Braunton Burrows lies at the heart of the North Devon Biosphere Reserve. Its sand dunes and damp slacks boast a unique, rich diversity of plant and animal life, with over 470 species of flowering plants (including 11 species of orchid alone). It is also home to a wide range of fauna – an abundance of insects that includes 33 species of butterfly, many nesting birds and 5 of the 6 reptile species found in the UK.
Renowned local naturalist Mary Breeds will lead a circular guided walk exploring the dunes and the flora that is special to this area. Starting at Sandy Lane Car Park, the walk will follow paths through the Braunton Burrows, traversing some sand and uneven terrain but staying on relatively flat ground.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, bring a waterproof coat and sturdy walking boots as well as a drink, snack, and sun protection.
*The Braunton Countryside Centre is a small volunteer-run charity. We rely on donations to keep our doors open and maintain a vibrant events programme. We also want to make sure our events are open to all, regardless of circumstances. So, although we do not charge event fees, we do ask for a suggested minimum donation of £4 per person, but any amount you are happy/able to give would be greatly appreciated. If you wish to further contribute to our running costs, you can become a Friend of Braunton Countryside Centre for £15 per year. Please find the details on our website, or ask at the Centre.
