Rufous Whistler: National Panic Tour date, Cobargo

Introducing Rufous Whistler, an emerging band from north-east Victoria appearing in Cobargo for the first time.

Rufous Whistler will be performing at the Cobargo Showground Function Room on Sun 18th May 2025, 4:30 pm.

National Panic, the band's first album, debuted at #2 on the ARIA Country charts (just behind The Wiggles!) in March, 2025. ABC Country Feature Album of the Week, Rufous Whistler’s blend of folk and alt-country is resonating deeply with audiences.

From Northeast Victoria (Wiradjuri Country), Rufous Whistler combines raw, heartfelt storytelling with modern alt-country arrangements. Influences include Gillian Welch, and the alt-country energy of Trampled by Turtles.

With guitars, twin fiddles, bouzouki, mandolin, double bass and a commanding vocal presence— the band delivers an unforgettable live show filled with sharp wit and toe-tapping energy.

Recorded with an exceptional lineup, Rufous Whistler is led by Vinny Russell (vocals, guitar, bouzouki), alongside Steven Hornby (double bass), Lucy McKenzie-McHarg (fiddle, mandolin), Dylan Knur (mandolin, fiddle, banjo), and Isaac Barter (drums, engineering, mixing/mastering).
