About the event

Using Genograms to Map Intergenerational Trauma with Juliana Willars
This workshop offers an introduction to genograms, an anthropological tool for mapping kinship structures that has been adapted for general use. Participants will learn how genograms can illuminate intergenerational patterns of attachment, maladaptive coping, and trauma responses that often operate outside of conscious awareness. By visualizing these patterns, genograms can support psychotherapy and psychedelic exploration, helping individuals situate personal experiences within larger familial and historical systems. This process can offer meaningful pathways for reflection, integration, meaning-making, and ancestral healing.

Participants are invited to engage at their own pace, sharing only what feels safe and appropriate. Grounding practices and resourcing options will be woven throughout the session, with time for questions at the end.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a notebook and colored pens or pencils to create their own genograms. Some materials will also be provided for group use.

Juliana Willars, MSc Counseling, is a Coahuiltecan (Texas) and Maya (Yucatán) descendant, anthropologist, and mental health professional whose work centers on decolonizing psychedelics and healing intergenerational trauma. With two decades of experience as a harm reduction educator, she has worked extensively in crisis care and community-based support models with people in recovery from addiction and other mental health issues. She comes from a medicine lineage and offers Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration (PHRI) coaching, supporting clients in their psychological and spiritual wellness journeys through culturally informed, trauma-aware collaboration.
