Animals suffer not just from weak laws but from their near-total invisibility to the legal system. At this Meetup Christopher Berry, the Executive Director of the Nonhuman Rights Project, will explain how the Nonhuman Rights Project is working to secure legal rights for animals through strategic litigation, drawing parallels to other movements that overcame initial judicial resistance through persistence and education. He'll discuss how past cases for nonhuman rights—despite being considered "losses"—have already set important groundbreaking precedent while laying the groundwork for tomorrow's breakthroughs.
